diorama sind seit ihrer Gründung Mitte der Neunziger Jahre für ihren avantgardistischen und emotionalen Dark Wave Sound bekannt, den sie kontinuierlich weiter entwickeln. Das 2020 erschienene Album „tiny missing fragments“ sowie der dazu gehörende Konzertfilm „in fragments“ gelten über Genregrenzen hinweg als kreative Meilensteine. Live treten die Musiker von diorama, die auf über 200 internationale Konzert- und Festivalauftritte zurückblicken, neben ihrer klassischen Bandbesetzung auch als „electronic set“ auf. Torben Wendt und Felix Marc bieten dabei im Zweiergespann eine cluborientierte Umsetzung der Songs, die von treibenden Arrangements und Beats lebt, ohne auf Atmosphäre und gesanglichen Tiefgang zu verzichten.

★ Painbastard
Seine ersten musikalischen Gehversuche unternimmt Painbastard 1995, als er einen Synthesizer kauft und erst mal kräftig experimentiert. Die ersten Songs sind noch klassisch orientiert, und schnell wird klar, dass er seine Ideen auch alleine umsetzen will. Nachdem ein paar Effektgeräte für seine Stimme das Equipment ergänzen, entstehen die ersten CD-Aufnahmen. Auch live kann sich Painbastard behaupten: Als er im Vorprogramm von Tanzwut, Blind Passengers und Dance Or Die in Leipzig auftritt, knüpft er wichtige Kontakte und etabliert sich mit seinem Harsh-Electro /EBM-Sound. Bis Mitte 2000 hat Painbastard seine erste Promo-CD „Just Like Dying“ zusammengestellt. Er fängt parallel an, für das Xceed-Projekt Stücke zu schreiben, die etwas poppiger ausfallen. Im folgenden Jahr folgt mit „Mindevolution“ die zweite Promo-CD, von der nur 25 Kopien gepresst werden. Nebenbei spielt er noch das erste Xceed-Album „Lose & Find“ ein und startet ein weiteres Nebenprojekt namens Prototype, für das er das Album „Electro Passion“ aufnimmt.2003 folgt die dritte Painbastard-Promo-Scheibe „Skin On Fire“, die das Interesse von Accession Records weckt. Die Aufnahmen für das offizielle Debüt verzögern sich aber (Stichwort: Jahrhundertflut). Irgendwann haben Painbastardund sein Kumpel AlexK. die Aufnahmen aber im Kasten. „Skin On Fire“ steht im August in den Läden. Mit seinem markanten Soundpunktet das Album ausgezeichnet und landet in den DAC. Live-Auftritte bleiben aber Mangelware. Dafür bastelt Painbastard wieder eifrig an neuem Material für den zweiten Longplayer. „Overkill“ erscheint im Mai 2005 und ist in Sachen Tempo deutlich abwechslungsreicher als das Debüt sowie tanzbarer. Auch im Anschluss an „Overkill“ bleibt eine durchgehende Tour zunächst aus, dafürstehen aber Auftritte in Schweden, Polen oder Holland auf dem Plan. Derweil schraubt Painbastard nicht nur für die Kollegen von[:SITD:] an einem Remix, sondern auch an einer eigenen EP, auf der es neben vier neuen Tracks fünf Remixe von älteren Stücken geben soll. „Storm Of Impermanence“ erscheint Mitte Oktober und klettert bis auf Platz 3 der DAC. Wie in diesem Genre üblich, gibt es auf scheint ein neues Album „Borderline“ sowie auch eine Kooperation mit[:SITD:] unter dem Namen „Klangfusion Vol. 1“ an. Auf dieser Doppel-EP liefern beide Bands einen Remix der jeweils anderen und diverse weitere Remixe sowie neue Songs ab. Außerdem ging man Ende September2007 gemeinsam auf Tour durch Deutschland, UK und Dänemark. Painbastard bleibt sich hierbei weitgehend linientreu. Drei Jahre später erscheinent sein ausgereiftetes Album „Kriegserklaerung“, welches erstmals mit Unterstützung von Musikkollege und Freund Daniel Meier (Haujobb, DSTR, usw.) produziert wird. Zudem gibt es für die treuesten Fans eine streng limitierte Erstauflage mit einer Bonus-CD, die 14 unveröffentlichte Tracks aus der Zeit von1998 bis 2001 umfasst. „Kriegserklaerung“ bleibt mehre Wochen in den Deutschen Alternativ Charts (DAC) und erreicht sogar in Woche 22 Platz 1. Das Lied „Kriegserklaerung“ erreicht zudem Platz 9 der DAC Single Charts.

★ diorama have been known since their foundation in the mid-1990s for their avant-garde and emotional dark wave sound, which they are continuously developing. The 2020 album „tiny missing fragments“ and the associated concert film „in fragments“ are considered creative milestones across genre boundaries. Apart from their classic band lineup, the musicians, who have completed over 200 international concert and festival appearances, are also performing as „electronic set“. As a team of two, Torben Wendt and Felix Marc offer a club-oriented interpretation of their songs with driving arrangements and beats, without making compromises in terms of atmosphere and vocal profoundness.

★ Painbastard
Painbastard takes his first musical steps in 1995 when he buys a synthesizer and starts experimenting vigorously. The initial songs are still classically oriented, and it quickly becomes clear that he wants to implement his ideas alone. After adding a few vocal effects to his equipment, the first CD recordings are made. Painbastard also proves himself live: when he performs in the opening acts for Tanzwut, Blind Passengers, and Dance Or Die in Leipzig, he establishes important contacts and solidifies his presence with his Harsh-Electro/EBM sound. By mid-2000, Painbastard has compiled his first promo CD, „Just Like Dying.“ He simultaneously begins writing pieces for the Xceed project, which lean towards a more pop-oriented sound. The following year, the second promo CD, „Mindevolution,“ is released, with only 25 copies pressed. In addition, he records the first Xceed album, „Lose & Find,“ and launches another side project called Prototype, for which he records the album „Electro Passion.“ In 2003, the third Painbastard promo disc, „Skin On Fire,“ attracts the interest of Accession Records. However, the recordings for the official debut are delayed (due to the „Flood of the Century“). Eventually, Painbastard and his buddy AlexK. complete the recordings. „Skin On Fire“ hits the shelves in August. With its distinctive sound, the album receives excellent reviews and lands in the DAC. Live performances, however, remain scarce. Instead, Painbastard diligently crafts new material for the second album. „Overkill“ is released in May 2005 and is significantly more varied in tempo than the debut, as well as more danceable. Following „Overkill,“ a continuous tour is initially absent, but performances in Sweden, Poland, or Holland are scheduled. Meanwhile, Painbastard not only works on a remix for his colleagues [:SITD:], but also on his own EP, which will feature four new tracks and five remixes of older songs. „Storm Of Impermanence“ is released in mid-October and climbs to number 3 on the DAC. As is customary in this genre, a new album, „Borderline,“ appears to be on the horizon, as well as a collaboration with [:SITD:] under the name „Klangfusion Vol. 1.“ On this double EP, both bands deliver a remix of each other’s tracks, along with various other remixes and new songs. Additionally, they embark on a tour together through Germany, the UK, and Denmark at the end of September 2007. Painbastard remains largely faithful to his style throughout. Three years later, his matured album „Kriegserklaerung“ is released, produced for the first time with the assistance of his music colleague and friend Daniel Meier (Haujobb, DSTR, etc.). Furthermore, there is a strictly limited first edition for the most loyal fans, including a bonus CD containing 14 unreleased tracks from the period between 1998 and 2001. „Kriegserklaerung“ remains in the German Alternative Charts (DAC) for several weeks and even reaches number 1 in week 22. The song „Kriegserklaerung“ also reaches number 9 on the DAC Single Charts.
